What this call asks for

This is a validation cohort. We are looking for laboratories with a scientific question of their own that facial expression analysis can help answer, and the capacity to run it within the six months. The Founding cohort are the first laboratories to run the Face Analyzer outside Mouse Data: structured feedback is not a courtesy here, it is part of what the laboratory commits to.

This call

What you receive

The device and full software access at no acquisition cost for the duration of the collaboration, with cloud analysis capacity and all product updates released while it runs.
Onboarding, direct access to the Mouse Data team, and early access to new algorithms and product features.
Permanent membership of the Research Partner network, with the annual partner meeting, shared protocols and first notice of every call.

Commitment

What we ask in return

A named principal investigator and at least one researcher using the system day to day.
Active use in line with the agreed Research Partnership Plan.
Structured feedback: a short call at least every six weeks, and a written review at the midpoint and at the end.
Willingness to share technical performance data and representative results for product development.
Permission to identify the laboratory and institution as a Mouse Data Research Partner.
Acknowledgement of Mouse Data in publications and other scientific outputs arising from the collaboration.

In this call, the laboratory also carries out the agreed research project, generates scientifically useful evidence, and works towards dissemination or publication when the results make it appropriate.

Before we start

The Research Partnership Plan

Every collaboration starts with a short written plan, agreed with the laboratory before the work begins. It is what both sides work to, and what every review is measured against.

What the plan sets out

Project: The question or application the device will be used for.
People: The principal investigator, the researchers using the system, and their roles.
Activities and deliverables: What will be run, and what the laboratory will deliver.
Calendar: An approximate timeline, with its review points.
Objectives: What a successful collaboration looks like, for both sides.

How it runs

Agree
Once a laboratory is selected, we agree the plan together. The collaboration starts when both sides are happy with it.

Check in
A short call at least every six weeks to see how the work is going and what needs adjusting.

Review
A written review at the midpoint and another at the end, both measured against the plan.

Close
The collaboration ends as the call sets out. If it is not progressing, either party can close it early, so the system moves on to another laboratory.

The Research Partnership Agreement

Every collaboration is also governed by a Research Partnership Agreement covering data ownership, intellectual property, confidentiality, shipping and insurance, and what happens to the device when the collaboration ends. We send it before any commitment.
